UNDERGROUND LABORATORY

ABOUT THE KINGDOM

A massive, spacious basement located under MYO-211 Luxia's kingdom, Zien's kingdom consists a spanning network of laboratories used for studies and research, as well as a castle in the middle of nowhere.

Visitors will normally find themselves in a large field, with a single worn dirt path. No matter which direction they choose to head towards, they'll find themselves at an old castle.

If they choose to head upwards, the castle will change its interiors to resemble a place they've been to before. It does not seem as though you can truly ascend-- not unless Zien allows it.

If they choose to descend, they'll find themselves in a long, twisting corridor, with locked doors on either side. Perhaps if they keep going, they will find one that isn't locked.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Experiment room 02
Experiments with regards to how various creatures interact with dreams are conducted here. Several daydreams can be found here in spacious and clean containment units. They appear to be healthy.

Experiment room 15
Experiments with regards to memory manipulation are conducted here. It resembles a therapist's office, with a comfortable reclining chair and a couch.

Experiment room 28
Experiments with regards to restoring damaged nightmares are conducted here. There are several... objects floating in tubes here. They almost seem to be growing before your eyes...

Passageway to cottage
A long dark passageway leading upwards from the laboratories. The walls and floor are a dull grey, but gradually become whiter as you ascend.

It smells of roses.

ABOUT THE STYGIAN

Originally working in a research team studying how to positively utilize dreams, Zien disappeared shortly after a certain experiment went awry. His disappearance went mostly unnoticed, as most of that team scattered and went their own ways as well.

He appears to have resurfaced recently, with a differently colored pelt, but now in a different research team. Perhaps he has chosen to pick up his studies back up again.

QUESTS

Part I: [preparation]
You enter the castle, and the path divides. You may choose to climb the castle, or descend.

A.

Your Stygian can only do this quest if they have visited at least 1 other kingdom.
You choose to head up.
It's strange, but as you walk, you find your surroundings turning into something... familiar?

Draw or write about your stygian finding themselves in a kingdom they've once been to. As this is merely an illusion, there appears to be no denizens, daydreams, treats or stygians to interact with.

Eventually, the scene fades away and your stygian finds themselves in the field again.

B.

You choose to head down.
You wander the passageways and find most doors locked. eventually, you stumble upon one that's slightly ajar, and push it open. Inside, you find Zien busying himself with an experiment.

Zien would like you to help him fetch some specimens for his studies.

Part II: [observation]

Zien tilts his head as you approach, trying to remember where he's seen-- or heard about you from.
"Ah," he says, "It's you. You've been a great help towards our research, and for that, I thank you. I'd hate to trouble you for this, but... since it's you, I'm sure you'll be able to do it. Of course, I'll try to compensate you appropriately as well for the trouble."

"You see, I have this serum I've been wanting to try on an actual stygian. Unfortunately, willing test subjects aren't all that easy to find... Don't worry, I've done enough testing on it to know it's safe for stygian consumption. So, what do you say?

A.

> Accept Zien's request and take the serum. The effects of the serum start to wear off after 4-5 hours.
"Perfect. Well then."

01. Zien hands you a book after you've injested the serum. He's going to quiz you on the contents of the book in about two hours, and he'd like you to study up for it.
02. Zien wants to observe you. He asks that you lay down on a reclining chair and rest a while.
03. Zien wants to observe you. He asks that you sit in a room located in his kingdom and play computer games for the next two hours or so.
04. Your colors appear to have suddenly inverted. Zien seems mildly surprised, and writes down some notes.
05. You shrink, and turn into... A treat/styx? Zien splutters and offers to let you stay until the effects wear off. He understands how it feels, he says. He's experienced being a styx once, himself.
06. Your colors change entirely, but your markings remain the same (similar to Dream&Nightmare trait). Zien perks up as he sees the changes, and starts questioning you to see if you feel any different.
07. Your palette remains the same, but your markings appear to have changed. Zien hums in approval, and takes down more notes.
08. Daydreams appear to be extra affectionate with you after taking the serum.
09. Some kind of temporary Shadow Weaving manifests from you-- and it's not one you already have.
10. You suddenly change forms into an avatar form. Looks like you're stuck in that form for a while. (Can be an avatar form you don't already own.)

Zien wants to do something new today. There's somewhere he wants to take you, and the two of you start heading up, leaving the labs behind. It's a bit odd, the way the castle floors look exactly like places you've been, but youc can't help but feel like you're losing something with every step you take.

Your memories grow increasingly fuzzy, then eventually, all at once, all your memories associated to the current area you are in hits you at once. Zien notices, and asks you what you remember.

Part IV: [intervention]

A.

Zien appears to be mildly frustrated today. You approach him asking what's wrong, and he turns to you, eyebags under his visible eye.

"Ah... Hey. I'm fine, just tired. There's been a Silverfish infestation in the library, and I haven't been able to chase them off... Haven't been able to find an exterminator, either... Do you think you can help me out?

Please draw or write about your stygian's attempt to help bring the Silverfish population down.

B.

You go to the library to look for the book Zien mentioned, only to find a Book-Borer already on it, ripping pages out. Oh dear. Better stop it before it can do more damage.

CYBER CAFE: 蝶

ABOUT THE KINGDOM

Situated along the road of Helene's hobby district, Ryuji's kingdom, 蝶, is a 24 hour manga-plus-internet cafe. The entrance to the building is small and can be easily missed, although the actual size of the place appears to be much larger than what is implied from the outside.

Inside, there are posters promoting the establishment's menu of simple, easy-to-prepare food like curry rice, cup ramen and microwave dinners, which you can purchase during your time here. There is also a drinks dispenser where customers can help themselves to free drinks in the common area behind the counter.

To the left, there is an impressive library of manga and dvds, and further down, there are many doors leading to private cubicles where customers are assigned their own computers.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Front Desk
The 'security gate' of this manga cafe. Ryuji can usually be found here. There are security cameras visible around this area, just in case anyone tries to do anything while Ryuji is away.

Common Area
More menu posters can be found here, showing off the variety of food 蝶 has to offer. There is a drinks dispenser as well as a coffee maker here that customers can use for free. There are also small, tall tables, intended for customers to use while standing.

Manga Cafe
A manga library that seems to go on forever, it seems to contain every known manga series in existance... Strangely enough, if you think hard enough about the series you want to read, it seems to appear right where you're looking.

Cyber Cafe
An area filled with cubicles with high walls and doors with digital locks to protect the users' privacy. Customers are assigned their own cubicle when they first enter, each equipped with a computer, a desk and a comfortable reclining chair, as well as some other general supplies one might need.

Strangely enough, each cubicle seems to be soundproofed, despite the walls not quite reaching the ceiling.

A menu poster can be found inside the cubicles, promoting food that can be ordered via the computers found here. Apparently, the food will be brought to you, so you don't even need to leave the cubicle.

ABOUT THE STYGIAN

Ryuji usually mans the front desk of 蝶, spending their time reading manga or playing games. They may occasionally leave to deal with quick orders of food, leaving a sign reading 'Back in 5' on the desk.

Once inside, the first thing you'd see is the front desk, where you can register for the different packages. You'd first need to apply for a membership card in order to enter...

If you do not have [KEY ITEM: KINGDOM OF SOVEREIGNTY VISA], Ryuji will give you a look and tsk. They're not sure how you got in if you don't have a visa, but they can help you apply for one online, they suppose. Applying for one will take a while, though, so they suggest you come back later to pick it up.

Draw or write about your stygian applying for a visitation visa.

B.

The drinks dispenser and coffee machine boasts a large variety of free soft drinks and coffee! There are also tall tables here, for customers who might want to idle around and eat snacks, which can also be purchased from the counter.

B.

Perhaps there is a series of manga your stygian wants to catch up to? It's rumored that there's a particularly odd manga hidden somewhere in these shelves, one that tells a story about its reader.

Draw or write about your stygian finding or reading some manga they're interested in.

C.

The internet is a vast place to explore, with games and chatrooms and forums and webpages to visit.
Does your stygian have their own Stygipedia page? Perhaps they can make their own and fill it with useless trivial if they don't. Maybe they can look up their daily horoscope, or chat with their friends online, or share some memes. Do they have a Deertube channel? What kind of thumbnails do they like putting up for their videos? Do they like Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs)? Which ones do they play? Perhaps they prefer single player games, like traditional Role Playing Games or Visual Novels. What kind of genres do they like?

Writing:
Write about your stygian's activities online. Do they actually make a Stigipedia page of themselves? What kind of information do they put on there? Do they go on Fawnbook and try to make their followers jealous of their lifestyle?

Drawing:
Draw your stygian surfing the internet, perhaps share the memes they make of themselves and their friends, or 'screenshots' of them ingame. Please note that sp can only be earned for the stygian if they are present in the submission.

D.

Well, if your stygian's going to be hanging out in the cyber cafe cubicle for a while anyway, why not customize the desktop to their preference? Perhaps setting up a new wallpaper, or a new icon or something.

Draw or write about your stygian's customizing, perhaps share the type of wallpaper they like, or the type of profile picture they want to use. It can be anything based on the stygian's preference, although please note that sp can only be earned for the stygian if they are present in the submission.

B. ESCORT QUEST:

"Need to deliver something somewhere but I can't leave right now. Think you can do me a favor and do the delivery for me? I'll get you a map so you won't get lost-- of course, I'll reward you if you're willing to help.

Generate a random number from 1-5 from here and use the list below to determine what object you need to deliver for Ryuji.

1. A sword, from Marin's (S-225) forge back to the cafe.
2. A lost child (S-345) back to Nao's mental health clinic.
3. A food crate, from (MYO-017) Val's restaurant back to the cafe.

C. BATTLE:

"A nuisance just showed up near the cafe but I'm in the middle of something here. Doesn't look too tough, think you can get rid of it?"

A shadowbeast has shown up near 蝶, and Ryuji wants your help getting rid of it.

Please write about or draw your stygian taking down a shadowbeast to finish this quest.

Reward (Part C Only): As the Shadowbeast fades away, you notice a small vial of black liquid left behind.
You gain a [Vial of Black Goo], which allows you to temporarily change your form into a black, gooey version of your existing form. The effects of this vial only last 4-5 ic hours and can only be used in kingdoms listed here... Are you sure you want to consume that, though...?

WORLD'S END

Desert
Most of the kingdom appears to be covered in desert. Fiendish creatures patrol the skies, looking out for intruders-- or perhaps a tasty morsel.

Ruins
The ruins are all that is left of an ancient city. Imps populate the place now, scavenging what little there is to eat. They seem to be avoiding a particular area closest to the lava falls...
